Gaël grew up on Goree Island, Senegal. He has grown into the heart of cultures where elements have souls, objects, power, where narratives weave invisible bridges between men and what surrounds them.

So, of course, the way he looks at things carry the uniqueness that characterizes his projects. Gaël is looking for sensory, emotional and magical interaction.

He aspires to see the inertia animate, to make tangible the intangible through a creative approach inspired by biomimicry, “animatics” and polysensoriality.

After a bachelor’s degree in Senegal and an applied art upgrade in Nîmes, Gaël graduated from ENSCI Les Ateliers with the congratulations of the jury in 2001. Then he founded the Atelier GH. A global design studio based in Paris.

In addition to his designer activities, Gaël took over the creative direction of the agency byVolta from 2007 to 2012. From 2012 to 2015, the Atelier GH also became a venue for artistic expression by inviting each month an artist to take possession of the studio to exhibit a spatialized art work. This was an opportunity for Gaël to present some of his works as a plastic artist.

Since its creation, the Atelier GH has focused on a cross-cutting and innovative practice of design, leading to the realization of projects of great diversity in the fields of design, architecture and contemporary art. Each project is approached with a fresh look in its entirety.

Using its sensitivity as well as strategic and innovative tools, Gaël accompanies its clients as far upstream as possible. From the development of the brief to the creation and implementation of the project, to its deployment and exploitation, Gaël imagines spatialized narratives, new scenarios of uses and services, systems and objects. He imagines for his clients – regardless of their territory – stories and sensory universes that transcend them and connect them differently with their users.

Because he believes that it is through the diversity of creative approaches that we respond to the complexity of current subjects, Gaël works with a network of talents woven over time and projects. A diversity of expertise that allows him to respond accurately to the multiplicity of issues addressed by the Atelier GH.

This creative, cross-cutting, sensitive and innovative approach allows him to discuss topics of varying scales and time. From prospective study to event space, from temporary installation to perennial device, from building to object, Gaël puts his ideas at the service of institutions, brands and agencies of different thematic spheres, in France and internationally.
